Food And Swollen Gums
Diet or the food that we ingest is an important factor in maintaining and having a good oral health. When you eat or drink your risk with bacteria increases. Food particles that are left in the mouth causes bacteria to form into plaque. Excessive accumulation of plaque produces acids and toxins that irritates the gums causing it to be inflamed, bleed, sensitive, sore and red in color- gum disease.
There are food choices best for maintaining good oral health. These foods can help in preventing bleeding gums, swollen gums, receding gums and other forms of gum diseases and tooth decay. Fruits and vegetables that are high in water content such as apples and pears they are usually firm and crunchy. They stimulates the flow of saliva by washing away the food particles and acids.
Proper food and diet combined with superior oral hygiene is an effective way in having a healthy oral health. Avoid sugary foods and drink lots of water.
